CSA POLICIES: THE MEMBER/FARMER AGREEMENT

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between farmers and eaters. It's a step beyond just buying vegetables. When you sign up for the Ten Mothers Farm CSA, you're paying in advance for your share of the farm's harvest. You're also taking on part of the risk of planting, growing, and tending to crops. Farming is unpredictable. We can't guarantee there won't be variations in the quality and quantity of the produce we're able to harvest, depending on circumstances that are beyond our control.

In return for your support, we're excited to grow the very best vegetables we can for you. Each week, we'll share recipes, ideas, and inspiration to help you in the kitchen. We consider the CSA to be much more than a way to sell vegetables. CSA members are an extended part of the farm. If you're a new member, we hope to meet you, get to know you, and have you out to the farm. You're the fuel that keeps this farm running.

When you join our CSA, you're agreeing to these terms:

  • The season is 29 weeks of fresh, naturally-grown produce, starting in April and ending in November. Our target start week in 2024 is the week of April 8, but it depends on the weather. There will be a four-week break from deliveries in August.

  • The share price is $36 per week, which equals $1,044 for the season.

  • We plant over 50 types of vegetables each year for CSA members. Each week's CSA box will typically contain 7 items, enough to feed 1-3 people, depending on how serious they are about vegetables.

  • When you sign up, you're agreeing to pay for your share and submit your payments on time. You can pay the full amount up front -- which helps the farm -- or pay a deposit at sign-up and then monthly installments. The payment options are check or Paypal (3% fee). If a payment is missed, we will notify you to discuss, and not deliver any more boxes until the payment issue is resolved.

  • You have the ability to customize your box before we harvest it. On Friday afternoons, we'll email you a newsletter that specifies what will be in your box, and you'll be able to use an online store to swap items in or out. You'll have until Sunday at 9:00 p.m. to make changes. If you don't make any changes, then you'll receive the default box.

  • You also have the ability to purchase extra vegetables each week from our online store, depending on what's available from the farm.

  • You're responsible for picking up your share every week, or designating someone else to pick up your share for you. (In that case, please make sure they know the pickup location hours, and also know to only take the box labeled with your name.)

  • If you're going out of town or will be otherwise unable to pick up your share, please notify us no later than the Sunday before the pick-up. We will hold your box that week, and add $36 to your balance. You can spend down your balance over time by purchasing extra items, or you can request a double box for a future delivery.

  • If you have a leftover balance at the end of the season, it does not carry over to the next season.

  • If you miss a pick-up (without scheduling a vacation hold beforehand), then the box is forfeited and the pick-up host will donate or share your box. This is because our pick-up locations are usually members' porches, and they would prefer not to have people showing up at all hours of the night. (If you're going to be just a little late to pick up your box, you can text the site host to let them know.)

  • There will be a 4-week break in the middle of the season, during the month of August, when we won't deliver boxes. This gives us a chance to catch our breath and devote time to planting fall crops. You'll be notified ahead of time, and not charged for those weeks.

  • Cancellations: if you need to cancel your subscription, email us at tenmothersfarm@gmail.com. If you cancel your subscription after the first delivery, then we will issue a refund on a pro-rated basis.

  • Refunds: if you are dissatisfied with the CSA for any reason and would like to cancel, then we will issue a refund on a pro-rated basis.

  • Privacy policy: we respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. We may collect personally identifiable information when you visit our site. We also automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, cookie information and the page(s) you visited. We will not sell your personally identifiable information to anyone.

  • Security policy: Your payment and personal information is always safe. Our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.
